"I shall here write my thoughts without order, and not perhaps in unintentional confusion; that is true order, which will always indicate my object by its very disorder. I should do too much honour to my subject, if I treated it with order, since I want to show that it is incapable of it" (Pascal, Pensees 373).

"The heritage of values which has been received and handed down is always challenged...To challenge does not necessarily mean to destroy or reject a priori, but above all to put these values to the test in one's own life, and through this existential verification to make them more real, relevant and personal, distinguishing the valid elements in the tradition from false and erroneous ones, or from obsolete forms which can be usefully replaced by others more suited to the times" (John Paul II, Centesimus Annus).
"If there were no obscurity, man would not be sensible of his corruption; if there were no light, man would not hope for a remedy. Thus, it is not only fair, but advantageous to us, that God be partly hidden and partly revealed; since it is equally dangerous to man to know God without knowing his own wretchedness, and to know his own wretchedness without knowing God" (Pascal, Pensees 686).
Cryptography is the study of means of converting information from comprehensible form into an incomprehensible format--the art of encryption. In the past, cryptography helped ensure secrecy in important communications, such as those of spies.
Icon (n): a graphic symbol that denotes a program or a command or a data file or a concept in a graphical user interface; a visual representation of an object or scene or person or abstraction produced on a surface; a religious image on a small panel--venerated in the Eastern Church.

I am no fan of John lennons music, but he is an important cultural figure(I guess, as i said i dont like his music or that of the beatles.)
But i am with her on this. Pearl Harbor is far more important. No matter how close to the site of his death you were.
@pupurarauour etc. and mukiruh
Tegen de Wereld are of course aware of the significance of 7 December. This is the 64th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombing. Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death, and 25th anniversary dates traditionally draw distinct attention. No doubt Pearl Harbor is "more important" than John Lennon's death, in some sense of "important"--though I doubt that the sense in which it is is in any way relevant as a criticism of the Lennon post. Moreover, the content of "Evangelium Vitae" is not driven by the concerns of those who choose to comment upon it.
Didnt say it was.
Lennon was important to you. I can respect that. I simply agreed with her- if her intention was simply to point out the occurance of pearl harbor v. the death of John Lennon.
Here i am trying to be a sign of contradiction, that is all :)
Im sure TdW gets that if no one else does.
a sign of contradiction, eh? [in your own language ;) ] Muki, you should be a sign of contradiction where necessary. It is Tegen's blog. He can post whatever he wants to post however obscure it might be. (not that lennon is obscure)
@armed
George Bush is "supportive of some very uncatholic values"--death penalty, selective abortion, to mention a few--but I bet you like him just fine.
quite the opposite actually. when bush speaks he has my attention but not my respect. I definetly respect people who have catholic values more than those who don't.
Come on its the difference between respecting truth more than lie
WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
There are a couple songs i am sure i would like if i listened to them.
Still, I feel Lennon must have either been a fool or in great denial his entire life, somehow he thought a concept like Love could exist without God.
Without God mans life is nothing but nasty bruitish and short. The only thing we could do to eachother without God is make it even nastier, more bruitish, and far shorter.
-sigh- it would seem i am forever the sign of confrontation. Even where it is illogical.
Something i need to work on.
Wow...what a mess! Persons may not agree with Mr. Lennon's values or actions, but he is still an important figure to recognize. His music was fantastic and spoke volumes about the times he lived in. Lennon is important in understanding that period of history. As far as respect is concerned, every person should be respected as a child of God. No human life is more sacred or more dignified than another in that respect. We are called to respect and love all people regardless of the mistakes they make. That said, it does not mean that we must approve of or support their views or actions. In fact, it is out of love that we do the opposite so as to lead wrongdoers back towards Christ. Furthermore, Muki, be careful calling persons fools. Lennon was probably misled, but unless you have the knowledge to back up such an attack on a person, do not make that accusation. I suspect that Lennon was honesly searching for meaning, purpose, and the source of love. We remember Lennon's death and pray for his soul since we are made aware by his music that he had not found what he was looking for.
OK...I'll get off my soap box.
