"I shall here write my thoughts without order, and not perhaps in unintentional confusion; that is true order, which will always indicate my object by its very disorder. I should do too much honour to my subject, if I treated it with order, since I want to show that it is incapable of it" (Pascal, Pensees 373).

"The heritage of values which has been received and handed down is always challenged...To challenge does not necessarily mean to destroy or reject a priori, but above all to put these values to the test in one's own life, and through this existential verification to make them more real, relevant and personal, distinguishing the valid elements in the tradition from false and erroneous ones, or from obsolete forms which can be usefully replaced by others more suited to the times" (John Paul II, Centesimus Annus).
"If there were no obscurity, man would not be sensible of his corruption; if there were no light, man would not hope for a remedy. Thus, it is not only fair, but advantageous to us, that God be partly hidden and partly revealed; since it is equally dangerous to man to know God without knowing his own wretchedness, and to know his own wretchedness without knowing God" (Pascal, Pensees 686).
Cryptography is the study of means of converting information from comprehensible form into an incomprehensible format--the art of encryption. In the past, cryptography helped ensure secrecy in important communications, such as those of spies.
Icon (n): a graphic symbol that denotes a program or a command or a data file or a concept in a graphical user interface; a visual representation of an object or scene or person or abstraction produced on a surface; a religious image on a small panel--venerated in the Eastern Church.

Welcome to a new year.(Another one, the same as the last)
Dont know if it will be happy or not yet.
:)
I am acrimonious, you should expect comments like that one by now.
Person 1: Do you want the truth or the answer you would normally give?
Person 2: Are you saying I’m a liar?!
Person 3: No I am saying you are an optimist- But i guess that IS the same thing as a liar.
hehe.
dern it, he's actually kind of right, being a realist is better. and we don't know if this year will be happy or not. hmm...
but i don't think happy is being used in that context, i think it's more of a "have a happy new year" not..."this is a happy new year" and gosh, i'm just happy to have 2005 over and done with.
and besides, we're always supposed to have hope right? and if happiness means being blest, then i am definitely going to hope that this will be a "happy new year" and in that case, i think it's being realistic and not at all optimistic.
oh, and if this year was the same as the last, it wouldn't be a "new" year.
sorry, i like debating. so,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for elaborating on my point. My point is it is not REALLY a new year, we are simply faced with the same repition and drugery we experienced all through 2005.
And if that is true it is far from happy.
As for Hope-
"Hope is the carrot dangled in front of the cart horses nose to keep it plodding on in the vain attempt to reach it."
"So you are saying we should just lie down and die?"
"No i am saying we should remove the carrot and go forth with our eyes open."
When i find a way around Father sermon(Saying that happy= blessed) I will post it here.
@muk.
what??? to speak in terms of plantinga, W and W1 can't both be actual worlds, because then they'd be the same world. in order to be W in the first place, it must contain include all of the prepositions that make up the book of W.
if and only if a year (another set of 365 days) has all of the same prepositions and states of affairs as another year, will it be the same year. it's pretty darned obvious to me, that this is NOT possible. when one considers who each particular time t, is different from every other time t(x), then there is no possible way in which a year could be the same as the year before.
i know i'm being technical here, but even so. i do sincerely hope that you find more to life than repition and drugery. and i happen to have had a horrible 2005, but....unhappy? never.
and you have no way of knowing what the year will bring, and if you do, i suggest you contact not only the pro-side of the upcoming debate, but also the government of our country.
furthermore, being a pessimist is just as bad as being an optimist, if not worse. despair, mind you, is definitely a sin. hope, a theological virtue.
and i realize, that i've been blessed with a peppy disposition, that not everyone has, but life's so short. and it's much nicer to spend time counting your blessings instead of your...losses. and honestly, i don't even think losses is the right word, because everything is God's Will except sin. and God's Will, as hard as it may be for us to see, is never a loss to us. and even when sin does get in the way of things, as it so often does, we should at least take comfort in knowing that God will bring as much good out of it as possible.
sigh. once again i aplogize for going off on you. this is a touchy subject for me.
2006
Moving farther into the future, wutever we meet in this year may we face it with courage
@Vivo
Her positive outlook is matched my dark outlook.
Dualism for all ^.^!
aAL- I would like to speak to you at school tomarrow.
@ muk
will do!
Why excuse me Vivo.
I surpass her in my gloomy and depressing outlook upon life.
Happy now? :p
yea...i give up. if life is beautiful didn't can't alter the way you think just a little bit, then there's no way i'm ever going to be able to.
What a pessimistic assumption you have made.
i'd prefer realistic please. and ultimately, i don't think one can change another's attitude towards life through argument. there has to be something deeper. so i'll leave it up to God to decide how He wants you to think, whether it be optimistic or pessimistic. of course, it's up to you to decide.
