"I shall here write my thoughts without order, and not perhaps in unintentional confusion; that is true order, which will always indicate my object by its very disorder. I should do too much honour to my subject, if I treated it with order, since I want to show that it is incapable of it" (Pascal, Pensees 373).

"The heritage of values which has been received and handed down is always challenged...To challenge does not necessarily mean to destroy or reject a priori, but above all to put these values to the test in one's own life, and through this existential verification to make them more real, relevant and personal, distinguishing the valid elements in the tradition from false and erroneous ones, or from obsolete forms which can be usefully replaced by others more suited to the times" (John Paul II, Centesimus Annus).
"If there were no obscurity, man would not be sensible of his corruption; if there were no light, man would not hope for a remedy. Thus, it is not only fair, but advantageous to us, that God be partly hidden and partly revealed; since it is equally dangerous to man to know God without knowing his own wretchedness, and to know his own wretchedness without knowing God" (Pascal, Pensees 686).
Cryptography is the study of means of converting information from comprehensible form into an incomprehensible format--the art of encryption. In the past, cryptography helped ensure secrecy in important communications, such as those of spies.
Icon (n): a graphic symbol that denotes a program or a command or a data file or a concept in a graphical user interface; a visual representation of an object or scene or person or abstraction produced on a surface; a religious image on a small panel--venerated in the Eastern Church.

wow
ummmm guys...i think you're missing the point...i haven't read the link yet, but i wouldn't think that it's the the being-over-one-hundred that's special...
what is, is as vivo said, what they've seen and lived through. we got back from new orleans, literally an hour ago, and guys its eight months later and the place is still completely trashed. when you go down into the ninth ward, which is the "poor area" there are places were there are steps. just steps, the house is completely gone. they're still finding bodies. katrina is still the center of every article. even in the more well to do areas, take lakeview for example. that happened to be where the canal was breached and homes are off their foundations. and i was soo greatful to be home tonight, can you imagine having to live through katrina, to then have to go somewhere else, and then to come back to your home, for most of these people the only place they've ever known, and find it in ruins? and most of these ppl haven't come back, and honestly i don't see how they can. the election for mayor was today, and it's just, watching the debate, i don't know if anyone truly knows how to handle it all. the day of the anniversary of the earthquake there were articles in the paper, they quoted jack london as saying something along the lines of all that's left are memories, and for them this is a source of hope, that their beloved city won't be become merely memories, but thrive again one day. those in the pic. have seen what few of us can imagine, and we should pray that we never have to.
and i completely understand that in situations such as these you have to find something to laugh about in order to get through it...but...there are some things that need to be taken seriously and i know even i got frustrated because it felt like no one was taking the ppl in nola and biloxi and gulf port seriously when it comes to things that matter.
@vivo
i heart you!
